What do in Seattle for 3 Days
My birthday month is here and I'm celebrating it in Seattle with my husband and friends. It's an exciting trip for me as I've never been to Washington.
Seattle, Washington is located on the West Coast of the United States. I heard from my friend that it rains a lot in their state but she likes it. I'm curious to see the other side of the US, the colder area if I may say. We packed our rain gear as we were going on a rainy month. We have been planning on moving to another state and Washington state was definitely on our list. This trip is about my birthday celebration and finding out if Seattle is the right state for us. Let's go!

Friday, January 3
First Day: Flight from California to Seattle

Some airport fridge magnet humors to start the day. I love the bottom left side on top of the first magnet that says "Step away from the fridge" - that's just hilarious!
The airport was clean and informative. We planned to take all modes of transportation in Seattle to compare the difference with Los Angeles. We walked to the train station as it was very close to the airport.
Orca card
There is a kiosk inside the train station where you can buy train tickets to certain parts of the city. We bought the Orca card as it allows us to take the trains and buses around the city and it saves us money for our 4 days trip. One Orca Card is 5 USD with zero deposit. The same ticket kiosk dispenses Orca cards and loads money for transportation usage that accepts cash or credit cards. It was fast and easy.
Heads Up
Little did we know that you have to tap the Orca card on those card readers located near the entrance, which we passed by of course after purchasing our Orca card. It's that yellow post found on the left side of the image above. So when we got on the train and the ticket officer checked our card and there was no transaction history on it, he was cool about it but he still had to take our passport information and labeled us as an ignorant tourist on the database. Another thing we found out on that day was the 3-day closure of some of the train stations due to maintenance - like seriously what more could possibly go wrong?!.
Reminders: After purchasing your Orca card make sure to tap your card on the card readers before hopping on the train, and tap out again before leaving the train station.

This is my first honey wine if my memory serves me right. It was something different from our usual red and white wines. There are varieties of sweetness depending on its storage time. What I love about honey wine is having the same amount of alcohol as most wines. The owner himself introduces us to his collections and a brief explanation of their taste.
I wanted to do something unique for our first dinner in Seattle so we're having a 5-course Moroccan dinner.

The Morrocan ambiance of the restaurant was spectacular, from the ceiling to the chairs and even the Belly Dancer circling around each table as we dine in. I wasn't impressed with the dishes but I love the Salad Marrakesh and even the dessert without the cinnamon sprinkles.
Space Needle
Here is the famous Space Needle Tower of Washington. This was very close to our hotel. A must-see as it is considered an iconic observatory tower of Seattle.
Saturday, January 4
We didn't plan on climbing the tower if you are the entrance fee is around 30 USD - 35 USD, which includes a same day visit to the Chihuly Garden and Glass. There's an expensive restaurant if you want to grab a bite it's called SkyCity located inside the tower. This reminds me of the CN Tower in Toronto where I had the best steak on Christmas Eve with my hubby and my family via Whatsapp video.

Afterwards, we went to the Pike Place Market which was very close to Seattle Waterfront where we got to see the famous Ferris wheel.

We've already done the wine tour from the other day so why not complete the drinking session with a beer tasting. I enjoyed this beer hub the place was cool and relaxing, plus the beers were awesome. My favorite drink is the pineapple-flavored beer, it goes along with our complimentary bread and unlimited popcorn refill - now you know why this place was impressive!

My husband has never been a fan of spicy foods but he's willing to explore his taste buds. He said yes to try a new cuisine so we went to a Szechuan restaurant in downtown Seattle. This Chinese restaurant is popular for its spicy noodles and soups. I was excited for both of us and a little bit worried about my brave one. We asked the lady to make our orders not too spicy and guess what it turned out I was not that strong enough for this challenge too - ahahaa
Sunday, January 5
Bremerton can be reached by a one-hour ferry ride from downtown Seattle. A perfect one-day getaway from the bustling city. A college friend of mine has settled down in this small town, so we decided to visit her and celebrate my birthday with her family.
I always start my day with a cup of sunshine and I'm in luck as I'm in the best US state to try some well-brewed coffee. Seattle is most famous for its coffee. They're considered to have the most coffee shops in the whole country and the world center for coffee roasting.
Taco Del Mar is a coastal-style Mexican food chain based in Seattle, Washington. I love the freshness and the selections they offer for customers. A healthier option for your traditional Mexican food favorites.
Seattle to Bremerton Ferry Tickets is less than 10 USD with travel time from 50 minutes to an hour.
The ferry provides jigsaw puzzles placed on top of the tables.
Putting the jigsaw pieces together definitely entertained us and the hour-long journey felt shorter.
Even when we got to my friend's place, they had their own jigsaw puzzle.
I didn't do anything extreme for my birthday this year but I'm happy. Celebrating it with special people fills my heart with so much joy. I feel blessed.
We went back to our hotel, dipped in the jacuzzi one more time, and left our mark, Saul and Tre adventure doodle.
Monday, January 6
Flight from Seattle to California
The trip was different from how we expected it to be from the Train station closures, getting in trouble with our Orca card, and not being able to go to Mt. Rainier. Due to transportation issues, we skipped going to Discovery Park Loop Trail or the Washington Park Arboretum. We decided maybe Seattle was not for us, a few signs from above telling us to go back to California for now till we found our place.
