Europe 15 days Itinerary

Europe 15 Days Itinerary: from Paris, France to Siena, Italy to Amalfi Coast, Italy and finally Rome, Italy

Let's get right to it!  These are more-or-less our notes for our stay, edited slightly for ease of reading.

Friday, October 11
Flight from Los Angeles (LAX) to Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) France.
Airline: Norwegian Air
Promo price: 350 USD (one-way, per person)
Duration: 11 hours
Departing @ 10:15 pm PST (GMT -8)
Arriving next day @ 5:45 pm GMT+1

We were able to snatched a good deal by comparing prices in skyscanner.

Hotel: Ibis Budget Paris Porte De Montmartre (address to follow below)

All hotel accommodations booked with Booking.com from 250-300 USD (3-5 nights). Our hotels were booked at booking dot com, easier to compare prices and always offers cheap prices.

Saturday, October 12
Arrived in Paris, Charles de Gaulle (CDG) Airport, France, Terminal 2E/F.

We had already planned to take the local public transport to our hotel.

From Charles de Gaulle Airport to Gare du Nord Train Station (City Centre of Paris)

Exchange our USD to EUR (“Euro notes” or "euros") from a money changer inside the airport, just enough for the train and bus tickets.  Exchange rates at the airport are terrible, so we saved our main pocket money for later.  We asked for coins since ticket machines only accept coins as per our research, but they also accept credit cards now.

Take the free train ride inside the airport to Terminal 3 for the Metro to the City Centre.

Inside the Metro Station, look for “Billetse Paris” to purchase Paris week passes.  Week passes start on a Monday and end on Sunday.  Since we arrived on a Saturday, there was only 1 day left on the week pass.  Instead, we bought a day pass on the ticket machine, unsure if the single-ride pass would suffice.  On the ticket machine screen, press “Acheter des tickets, coupons,” press the green button, then select English.

Insert train ticket at the entryway and look for signs to TRAIN RER B.

Our exit: Gare du Nord Train Station

Estimated travel time: 25 minutes

From Gare du Nord Train Station to Hotel Ibis!

The station connects to the mall.  Take the escalator down and buy bus tickets at a nearby ticket machine.  Take BUS 302 Tramway toward Cail Demarquay, exiting after 6 stops at Point Marcadet.

Walk towards Rue Ordener and turn left, walking past Rue Emile Duploye, and wait for BUS 60 going to Porte de Montmartre (9 stops).

Walk towards Rue Charles Schmidt, turn left, then make another left on Rue du Dr. Babinski.  You will pass a store named Monoprix and right beside it is Hotel Ibis.

Itinerary Reminders:

1. Flight Details
Make sure to write down your booking reference number, be at the airport two hours before your flight and allocate time for your travel to the airport.

2. Accommodation Details
Write down your hotel/motel/resort/BnB booking number. Contact your place to inform them around when you'll be arriving — it really does help.  Also, ask if your accommodation has any discounted activities.  You'd be surprised!

3a. Transportation
List possible times your bus/train/boat arrives and leaves so you don't miss an activity.  Always give yourself an extra 30-45 minutes in case you get lost, get stuck in traffic, or are looking for parking.  Better early than late.  Of utmost importance: check for the last trip and fares!  So you still have time and money to get back.

3b. Car Rentals
Take note of your pick-up address and time allotted.  Our last car rental told us to bring the car back by a certain time with a certain amount of gas.  Allot money for fuel and parking.

4. Budgeting
Set aside a minimum and maximum spending amount for: meals, transportation, entrance fees, activities, souvenirs and emergencies.  3 meals a day + snacks add up quickly, so keep track!  As well as tips for restaurants and activities.

5. Activities
Call to confirm your booking(s) a day or so beforehand.  Set alarms and/or calendar reminders for things you plan to do (i.e- bungee-jumping, river-rafting, or even city/food tours).
