We visited Point Mugu Beach at the end of May on a spontaneous trip after our visit to Camarillo. The beach wasn’t crowded, allowing us to enjoy a wonderful stroll along the shore. Let’s go!

The stunning beach of Point Mugu State Park was beautiful, with its sandy shores and the majestic waves of the Pacific Ocean. It was the perfect setting for a relaxing day by the sea.

The best time to visit Point Mugu Beach is during late spring to early fall when the weather is warm and pleasant. Weekdays are typically less crowded, offering a peaceful beach experience.
Parking and Fees
Conveniently, a parking area is available at the beach, but please arrive early, as it can fill up quickly. There is a small parking fee, so be prepared for that, and you can also pay for it online.
We paid for parking online with Lazparking and stayed for 1 hour for 3 USD plus an additional 55 cents for tax, bringing the total to 3.55 USD. When you make an online payment, you'll receive a message prompting you to extend your stay, which greatly helps in tracking your hours.
Food Options
Since there aren't any restaurants nearby, it's best to pack your own meals. We brought sushi, mangoes, and some other snacks and enjoyed a casual picnic in our car, all while admiring the beautiful beach view. Alternatively, you could bring a blanket and enjoy playing in the sand while you eat.

Family Fun
Our little one had a blast pretending to search for fossils, and it was such a joy to watch him explore and have fun at the beach. Be sure to use Coral Reef-Friendly Sunscreen to protect your skin and our ocean.

- Another nearby attraction is Point Dume State Beach, which happens to be my favorite hiking destination. I've visited it countless times, and it's just a quick 10-minute drive away. If you have some time, I highly recommend checking it out for a few hours of hiking. You'll be treated to stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, and you might even catch a glimpse of a whale!
- While you're in the area, don't forget to explore El Matador Beach, another nearby tourist attraction. El Matador Beach is less than 10 minutes away from Point Dume Beach. I love this quiet beach. It's clean, and people come here to relax and enjoy the water views. The beach tends to be less crowded due to its somewhat concealed entrance, requiring a descent down a steep staircase to reach it.
Our impromptu visit to Point Mugu State Park was a memorable and relaxing getaway. We left with sand in our shoes, smiles on our faces, and plans to return soon.
