Hello Kitty Cafe
The cutest Sanrio character from Japan has just arrived in Irvine, California. The Hello Kitty cafe is designed for takeouts, with no seating available inside for enjoying your drinks. While there are some tables and chairs outside, they are quite limited. It would be nice if they had more seating like other themed cafes. They do provide reservations for tea and cocktail services in their unique rooms, perfect for groups. You can bring your friends here to chat about your favorite Sanrio characters.
Afternoon Tea and Cocktail Service
In the Bow Room, you can enjoy Afternoon Tea and Cocktail Service, available by reservation. If you have spare time and are open to the price, it promises to be a memorable Hello Kitty experience. The Cafe is open every day for quick grab-and-go options.
For the Afternoon Tea service: Make a Reservation
- The cost is 60 USD per person and includes a variety of sweet items along with a pot of tea of your choice.

- Afternoon Tea is family-friendly, suitable for guests aged 4 and above to enjoy the tea menu.

We skipped making a reservation because we simply wanted to sample their coffee and pastries, but the line was incredibly long when we arrived, especially since it was the weekend. Instead, we decided to visit the Hello Kitty Cafe after dinner to take advantage of the shorter queue later in the evening.

Since becoming parents, we usually avoid going out at night, preferring daytime activities like morning hikes, and beach trips, and embracing nature, except for special occasions. By nightfall, we prefer to relax at home. Despite the smaller crowds, we still ended up waiting for an hour for our hot drinks at the cafe. It all began with thinking it wouldn't take long, from 10 minutes to 30 minutes, and before you realize it, an hour has already passed. Can you believe we had to wait that long?!
Say Hello To The Cutest Sanrio Character From Japan
My husband maintained a smile, yet I know deep down, that he was shaking his head while waiting in line for an hour and taking turns running around with our toddler. His love and support during my visit to the Hello Kitty Cafe meant a lot, but I won't repeat this experience. It felt like being back at Disneyland, waiting in line for the rides all over again. It was worth the wait for me, ahahaa, but I won't do this again.

The prices are pretty decent; being a themed cafe, they might be slightly higher than regular coffee shops. However, considering it's Hello Kitty-themed, if you're a fan of this character, it's definitely worth a visit.

All the desserts were dolled up with Hello Kitty charms, making me squeal with joy and feel like a kid again - ahahaa!

The coffee was okay, but I didn't like the vanilla froth. On the bright side, the cookie was delicious! I absolutely love my Hello Kitty mug; I use it almost every day for my coffee, and it has proven to be durable so far.
Afterwards, we strolled around the Irvine Spectrum Center, appreciating its distinctive Moroccan-inspired architecture, beautiful fountains, and captivating lighting. It's definitely different from your typical shopping spot.
