Washington State has lots of amazing spots, and Poulsbo is one of them. Often called the “Little Norway” of Washington, Poulsbo is known for its rich Norwegian heritage. It's a lovely place for a memorable day out. I visited with my friend and her family, and it felt good to be with familiar people again. We’ve been friends since college, and it’s nice to be around people who cherish your presence. Whether you live nearby or are visiting for the first time, here’s my personal list of must-see things in Poulsbo. Let’s go!

How to get there
The drive from Seattle to Poulsbo takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes by car.
When I saw a Viking king welcoming us to his beautiful city, I couldn't help but clap! The child in me is still very much alive, just as my favorite movie, Under the Tuscan Sun, reminds us, “Never lose your childish enthusiasm; it’s the most important thing of all.”

A visit to Poulsbo isn't complete without stopping at Sluys Poulsbo Bakery. If you're visiting during peak season, head here first because it gets jam-packed—people line up for this bakery!
You have to try their blueberry cake donut, and my little man loved the gingerbread and smiley cookies. They also offer a Viking donut to match the town’s theme.

I ordered the café francais, and it came with a chocolate stick bar, which was delicious. The staff were nice here, one even sliced the apples for my little one, which was such a genuine gesture that put a smile on our faces.

Another great spot for coffee is Caffe Cocina. The cozy atmosphere and brown wooden furniture make it feel warm and inviting. I tried the matcha latte and loved it, and I'm picky about matcha after trying the real thing in Japan.

In Poulsbo's Waterfront Park, you'll find "The Guardian Stone," a beautiful piece of art by Lisa Stirrett. This artwork is inspired by Norway's "Sverd i Fjell" (meaning "Swords in Rock") and proudly honors Norwegian heritage and unity.

Spring
- March: Participate in the Poulsbo Beer Run with a 4-mile run and seven small beers. Join Easter Egg Hunts at Raab and Waterfront Parks.
