Top Travel Diapers: No Leaks, Just Sweet Dreams!
For our second baby, we made sure to request diapers and wipes at our baby shower. Since we still have supplies from our first child, reusing them brings us immense joy. It’s both eco-friendly and budget-conscious, which is essential for us as we continuously seek ways to save money for our travels. We were fortunate to receive a substantial amount of diapers and wipes, allowing us to compare their absorbency, leak protection, and the moisture level of the wipes for effective clean-ups. Here are my evaluations based on our experiences, highlighting the diapers and wipes we prefer for traveling that have proven to be worthwhile winners. Let’s go!

1. Huggies Plus Little Snugglers
Key Features:
- GentleAbsorb Liner for superior softness
- Pocketed waistband to prevent blowouts
- Soft, flexible fit for active babies
This is the ultimate choice! Both of my boys wore these diapers, and they have been leak-proof during blowouts while also managing overnight wetness. We've used them on flights, road trips, and hikes, and they've never let us down. They stay securely in place even when I'm carrying my baby in a carrier. I'm thrilled to have found the perfect diaper!
2. Pampers Swaddlers
2. Pampers Swaddlers
Key Features:
- Heart Quilts liner for added comfort
- Air Channels for breathability
- Umbilical cord notch for newborns
I loved using these when my baby was a newborn, as he had sensitive skin—although, who really wants to travel with a newborn? We visited grocery stores and malls, and these diapers kept my baby dry without any leaks. This is another favorite and a reliable option for travel and outdoor adventures.
3. Huggies Snug & Dry
3. Huggies Snug & Dry
Key Features:
- Leak Lock System for up to 12 hours of protection
- Quick-absorbing layers
- Fun Disney designs
These are fairly good. While we did experience a few leaks, they can handle overnight wetness. There were about one or two leaks in the morning, but overall, they performed well on long car rides. However, I did notice some leaking when using the baby carrier.
4. Millie Moon
4. Millie Moon
Key Features:
- Ultra-soft material for sensitive skin
- Made with sustainable materials
- Free from dyes, fragrances, and lotions
This is the softest diaper I’ve ever tried. It truly promises a luxurious feel, but unfortunately, we did encounter some leaks in the car seat, which is a dealbreaker for me. Perhaps the diaper wasn’t effective because my baby moves around a lot- it might work better with your little one!
5. Honest Baby
5. Honest Baby
Key Features:
- Plant-based materials for eco-friendliness
- Adorable, stylish prints
- Hypoallergenic and free from harmful chemicals
6. Kirkland Diapers
Key Features:
- Budget-friendly with premium features
- Soft, breathable outer cover
- Absorbent with secure fit to prevent leaks
I only used these in the morning and never at night. They leaked a few times in the crib and car seat, making them unsuitable for travel. They are affordable, especially if you have a Costco membership, as they are exclusively available there. Using them in the morning isn't too bad if you're looking to save some money.

Key features:
- Elastic waistband for a comfortable fit
- Absorbent layer that quickly draws in moisture
- Colorful, child-friendly designs
- Easy to put on and take off, like real underwear
- Stain-free protection for day and night use
- Reinforced sides for extra durability
For toddlers, Huggies Pull-Ups are fantastic! While some suggest that using pull-ups may extend the potty training process, I have a different perspective. My little one mastered it before he turned two, and I used pull-ups during that time! He’s a living proof that every child is unique, and in our case, it worked wonderfully for our little man.
When to Switch Diaper Sizes
Make sure to monitor when it's time to switch diaper sizes. Look for signs such as:
- Sudden leaks
- The Velcro fasteners are becoming excessively stretched
- Red marks appear where the elastic touches the legs or abdomen
- The baby is attempting to remove their diaper
How to Prevent Diaper Rash
Consistently Apply Cream: Diaper rash cream is essential for both preventing and treating diaper rash.
My top two favorite diaper creams that have always been effective are:
- Earth Mama Diaper Balm for the first year.
- CeraVe Diaper Rash Ointment for when they get older.
If you're looking for a baby carrier for summer, I recommend the Infantino baby carrier. It's breathable and lightweight, perfect for hot days at the beach or family outings. Beach Day at Point Mugu Beach in California
1. Pampers Sensitive Baby Wipes
Product Highlights:
- Hypoallergenic and perfume-free
- Enriched with a touch of aloe and chamomile
- Thick and durable for thorough cleaning
This is my top choice for baby wipes! They are moist and large enough for effective cleaning. Just a heads-up: sometimes the wipes can get stuck in the container. To avoid this, I like to pull out 2-3 wipes in advance. I find that I use fewer wipes compared to other brands, making my life easier, especially that I don’t have to keep checking the diaper bag for wipes, as there are always more left in the container.
2. Huggies Natural Care Wipes
2. Huggies Natural Care Wipes
Product Highlights:
- Made with 99% water for gentle cleaning
- Aloe and Vitamin E infused for skin nourishment
- Soft and absorbent triple-layer design
- Paraben-free
These wipes are adequately moist for clean-ups -another winner for the wipes section!
3. Rico Wipes
3. Rico Wipes
Product Highlights:
- Infused with natural essential oils
- Eco-friendly and biodegradable materials
- Ultra-soft texture for a soothing touch
- Suitable for both babies and adults
While they aren’t moist enough for very messy changes, they are larger which is great and easy to pull from the diaper container. It’s also available in Costco at a more affordable price.
4. Kirkland Wipes
4. Kirkland Wipes
Product Highlights:
- Extra-large size for better coverage
- Contains cucumber and chamomile for a fresh scent
- Alcohol-free and safe for sensitive skin
These aren't my favorite; they lack moisture but are sufficient for clean-ups and budget-friendly. It’s available at Costco, where they are exclusively for their members.
Product Highlights:
- Plant-based, made with over 99% water
- Hypoallergenic and dermatologist-tested
- Free from parabens, phthalates, and fragrances
These tend to tear easily and are less moist, which means I end up using more wipes during clean-ups. However, I appreciate them for being eco-friendly.
Take note: Never flush baby wipes down the toilet, even if they are labeled as flushable. These wipes are not designed to break down when wet, which can lead to plumbing problems.
In summary, Huggies Plus Little Snugglers diapers have proven to be a dependable option for our family during air travel, hiking, road trips, and everyday activities, consistently surpassing all other brands for our two boys. As a mother of two young children, I wholeheartedly recommend this product, as it has given me peace of mind, minimized laundry, and enriched my parenting experience. When it comes to wipes, I’m not overly particular— the wetter, the better, as this helps reduce the number of wipes used, particularly during the newborn stage, like the Pampers Sensitive Baby Wipes. Thankfully, the situation improves afterwards, and any wipes from a reputable brand will work just fine.
Take note: Never flush baby wipes down the toilet, even if they are labeled as flushable. These wipes are not designed to break down when wet, which can lead to plumbing problems.
