Absolutely! Visiting June Lake is definitely worth it.It’s one of those places that you can’t stop coming back for more. It even made me wished I lived nearby! I’ve only felt this way about Solvang and Lake Tahoe, but now, I have a new destination on my list.
What to Expect in June Lake
- June Lake, known as the "Switzerland of California," is celebrated for its alpine beauty and tranquil atmosphere.
- Situated in the Eastern Sierra at about 7,600 feet, it offers stunning mountain and lake views.
- Part of the scenic June Lake Loop, featuring four lakes: June, Gull, Silver, and Grant.
- Offers summer activities like hiking, fishing, and boating, and winter sports at June Mountain Ski Area.
- Serves as a gateway to attractions like Mammoth Lakes, Yosemite National Park and Mono Lake.
June Lake is charming and available all year round. May to September offers hiking and fishing in warm weather. October and November bring vibrant autumn colors, perfect for photography. Winter transforms the area into a snowy skiing haven. Spring, from March to April, sees blooming flowers. Every season offers a unique experience.
We highly recommend visiting during the early autumn season, as it offers the perfect balance of pleasant weather and fewer crowds. The months of September, October, and November are considered the off-season, making it an ideal time to explore the great outdoors. With less foot traffic, you can fully immerse yourself in nature and enjoy the tranquil surroundings - plus you'll have better access to parking!

The beauty of June Lake was breathtaking, and it's one of the most stunning lakes I've ever seen here in California. However, my experience of swimming in the clear waters of Tobermory Lake in Canada still takes my breath away.
