We’re celebrating a lot of things this year and wanted a special place to host for our needs. We chose to stay with Shangri-La Mactan Cebu and they have exceeded my expectations. From Mactan-Cebu International Airport:
Take a taxi or Grab or pre-arrange a resort pick-up service
Travel time: 30 minutes.
From Cebu City:
Go to Parkmall Terminal
Location: Ouano Avenue, Mandaue Reclamation Area, Mandaue City, 6014 Cebu
Take a Jeepney from Parkmall Terminal to Punta Engaño. Jeepney is a widely known public transportation in the Philippines.
Travel time: 1 -2 hours, depending on traffic
The easiest way to find that jeepney to Punta Engaño is simply to ask around the Parkmall Terminal. Don't be afraid to ask Filipinos are very friendly.

When we arrived at their open-air lobby we were greeted by a band. I felt special! My husband and I knew right away that it was going to be a great day.

Initially, our plan was just to book for one night for our anniversary however, the promo prices were so low that we decided to book another night but this time we invited my family to stay with us. Normally, Shangri-La Cebu's price per night would go as high as 12,000 PHP to 14,000 PHP for a deluxe room without taxes, we got our room for 10,000 PHP and that already comes with taxes and fees. If we weren’t celebrating a monumental occasion I would love to try Shangri-La’s Cebu day use package.

The rooms were immaculately clean and the beds were huge. The pillows were big and fluffy and the comforter felt soft and clean. Our towels were made of brushed microfiber with a 100 percent cotton back for better absorption. I’ve never mentioned towels before on my blog, this is a first and that’s how much impressed I am with Shangri-La Mactan. Their complimentary toiletries are from L'Occitane en Provence, a French Luxury brand famous for its face and body care products.

I mentioned in our booking about our Anniversary and this was a pleasant surprise they had for us.

This was my parents' room with our requested balloon decoration for my mom's birthday. They even threw in a balloon bouquet and a chocolate cake to make her feel even more special.

I requested this simple arrangement ahead of time and it means a lot to our family that the Shangri-La team made it happen. I also arranged to do our family pictorial inside the resort and they made that possible too. Just rearrange the pictorial details weeks in advance, as you have to provide details for the photoshoot and get approval from the management.

The garden view from our balcony was beautiful and refreshing. After checking in it’s time to explore some exquisite on-site dining experiences.

The breakfast buffet with Tides Restaurant was amazing. There was a wide array of breakfast selections and here’s one of my breakfast highlights freshly cooked omelets with my own selected ingredients.

My breakfast favorite was the ‘Puto Maya and Sikwate’ section which means Rice cake and hot chocolate in Cebuano. It’s a traditional Filipino breakfast or snack made of glutinous rice paired with a cup of thick hot chocolate, a side of sliced mangoes, and an optional drizzle of ‘muscovado’ or organic raw cane brown sugar.

Lunch: 12 pm to 2:30 pm

Breeze at Shangri-La's Mactan Resort & Spa

Breeze is my favorite among all the restaurants inside Shangri-La, as it’s perfectly situated close to the beach.
Other food options...
The restaurants are a bit pricey inside the resort so if you’re looking for some Japanese food or a slightly cheaper option outside Shangri-La here’s my recommendation. It’s very close to the resort and about 5 minutes away by car.

The whole family had a wonderful time. I wished we could have stayed longer. Maybe next time we’ll come back when our baby is a bit older so he’ll enjoy the waters more.
