Strolling The Garden City of Ontario: Less Touristy Spots

London in Ontario? You heard that right. A town 3 hours away from Toronto via Greyhound bus service. It's a nice place, not that crowded, a lot of food to choose from, friendly people, and there's not much traffic. The traffic in Toronto is just crazy, add in a delayed flight and say goodbye to a relaxing early dinner before your bus service. Well, the Important thing is we were able to catch our 5 pm bus right on time, like 2 minutes away from blasting off. Let’s go!

Toronto to London

  • July 19, Toronto to London
  • Greyhound Bus 5:00 pm - 8:30 pm

My husband and I decided to visit my cousin's family situated in the Garden City of Southern Ontario. I've been here a couple of times, but I haven't really stayed and roamed around town.

Where To Stay in London

  • Check in: Wharncliffe Suites
  • Address: 370 Wharncliffe Rd S, London, ON N6J 2M1, Canada

Our hotel is conveniently located in the downtown area. The bus stop is steps away from the area, No Frills supermarket is less than 10 minutes away, Shoppers Drugstore too, and tons of food selections. My oh, so beautiful cousin lent us her car so we could drive around town.

This is our first time driving in Ontario, and we both loved it. London is just perfect to drive around, lots of parking spaces, and fellow drivers are considerate and nice.

Enjoy Laser Tag

  • Laser Quest
  • Address: 149 Carling St, London, ON N6A 1H5, Canada
  • Groupon voucher 1 game for 28 CAD, good for two pax

First on our list was to play a game of Laser Tag downtown. Afterwards, we walked towards Victoria Park for a little walk in the park. Little did we know, there was a small festival in the park.

Explore Victoria Park

  • Victoria Park
  • Address: 580 Clarence St, London, ON N6A 3N1, Canada

We bought a blue-coloured drink and a chocolate sundae. It rained after we finished our snacks, good thing my cousin was right on time to pick us up. What I love about their small event is that they are promoting recycling to everyone, something I'm passionate about.

Sunset at Grand Bend Beach

  • Grand Bend Beach
  • Address: Lambton Shores, ON N0M 1T0, Canada

The last destination is to visit the famous Grand Bend Beach, an hour away from Downtown London. My cousin insisted that we see this beautiful beach. I was glad it was just a passing rain; however the water got really cold when we got there. The fabulous sunset by the beach made it worthwhile for the drive, plus my little niece also got to use his metal detector. Our Mexican food craving continued in Grand Bend Beach, and I had my soft tacos at Cheryl Ann Food Truck.

Where To Eat in London

We went to two Mexican restaurants in Downtown London.

  • Lo Nuestro Latin Restaurant
  • Address: 772 Hamilton Rd, London, ON N5Z 1T9, Canada
  • Favourite:  Corn Flour Tacos

  • Casa Cancun
  • Address: 325 Wharncliffe Rd S, London, ON N6J 2L6, Canada
  • Favourite: Enchilada Verde

For amazing sandwiches, I highly recommend Wich is Wich!

  • "Wich is Wich"
  • Address: 125 King St, London, ON N6A 1C3, Canada
  • Favourite: Pork Belly Sandwich

Discover the Civic Gardens

  • Civic Gardens
  • Address: 645 Springbank Dr, London, ON N6K 4T1, Canada

Another garden worth visiting is the Civic Gardens. We were on our way to our Blueberry picking when we saw this garden along the way. Spotted a snowflake-like flower, and we can't help but take a picture of it.

Experience Kustermans Berry Farms

  • Kustermans Berry Farms
  • Address: 23188 Springwell Rd, Mount Brydges, ON N0L 1W0, Canada

The highlight of our trip was the Blueberry Picking. I love blueberries, and having to eat them fresh from the plant is a blueberry lover's dream come true. Surprisingly, my husband and I discovered that fruit picking is very therapeutic.

  • July 22, 1:30-3:35pm London to Toronto Pearson Airport

Booked Greyhound bus ahead of time and made sure to allot plenty of time for traffic and unforeseen road events. Flight: 6:30pm.

Have fun and be safe ^__^
