Bohol Itinerary, Philippines

Bohol Vacation Checklist

Bohol is one of the provinces in the Philippines, located in the Central Visayas region. All the tourist sites are accessible by tricycle/jeepney and van. Hiring a van for a one-day city tour is a smart choice; if you consider the time and travel going to different places you can save ample time to get to these places. Let's go!

Travel Tips
  • For flights, Skyscanner is excellent for comparing the best airline deals.
  • For accommodations, our family trusts for reasonable prices.

Advantages: Hired Van

-Time Management for travelers who have a few days' stay.
-A number one choice for groups and partners who like a hassle-free city tour.
-Slight difference in expenses but worth the saved time and security as well.
-All tourist spots will be visited as long as you're not too obsessed with taking too many pictures.
- I recommend for your first day book a day tour, a pick-up transfer from the ferry terminal or from the airport to different tourist spots. Then on the next day, you can plan your next move, or at least give yourself a day to familiarize the place before going on your own tour.

Advantages: Going on your own

- Great for Solo travelers or just Backpacking in Bohol.
- It wouldn't be fun if you didn't get lost. To avoid such read blogs ahead of time and research for possible routes and fares.
- Time-consuming yet you'll never know what's in store for you. Great for people who have a sense of Adventure and keep a positive vibe all day long.
- Meet different kinds of people along the way and definitely, you're bidding skills will be put to the test.
-Choose what you like to visit, bear in mind that time management is important to meet your checklist and the number one thing let lose when you're on a vacation! Smile, laugh, and enjoy every step of the way.

How to get there: ( by air or by sea ) Updated 2019

By Air
For Locals: Book a domestic flight bound for Bohol. There are direct flights to Bohol from most parts of the country.

For foreigners: Some airlines offer direct flights to the province. If you can't find a flight to Bohol, stopover at Cebu (Mactan-Cebu International Airport) then book your domestic flight to Bohol.

Another alternative if you want to save some money, you can take a ferry from Cebu to Bohol.

From the Mactan-Cebu International Airport:
You can take a cab going to Pier 1, Cebu Pier Area.  The estimated fare is 250 PHP – 350 PHP, depending on traffic.

Alternatively, if you're familiar with Uber and/or Lyft, then you can download and use the mobile app, Grab, to book your transportation.

If you have luggage have your cab enter the ferry terminal for a fee of 10 PHP. Take note the ticketing office is outside the ferry terminal gates.

By Sea
I personally trust Oceanjet and Supercat ferry operators. Both have daily trips.
There are two ports: Tagbilaran Port or Tubigon Port. Save your worries and take the Tagbilaran Port.

Option 1. Ferry from Cebu Pier to Tagbilaran Port: ( Tagbilaran is the capital city of Bohol )
Boat Fare: 500 PHP - 1,200 PHP
Travel time: 2- 3 hours

Option 2Ferry from Cebu Pier to Tubigon Port:
Boat Fare: 200 PHP - 300 PHP
Travel time: 2 - 3 hours
From Tubigon Port to TagbilaranCity by Van: 90 PHP - 120 PHP
Travel time: 1 hour

Terminal Fee: 25 PHP

Prices may have changed.  Please check the ferry operators for more information.

From Tagbilaran Port: Book ahead of time for city tours.
Van tours: 2,500 PHP - 3,500 PHP

Pre-arranged pick-up transfer from your resort/hotel or take a tricycle. Tricycle fare: 30 PHP -100 PHP

Take a cab or van if you're going straight from Tagbilaran Port to Panglao Island
Cab fare: 300 PHP - 1,000 PHP
Tricycle fare: 250 PHP - 350 PHP
Motorcycle fare: 150 PHP - 250 PHP

Power outlets: are commonly type A, with standard voltage 220 V and frequency 60 Hz.  Be sure to bring a universal plug adapter!
Money matters:  We recommend getting your currency exchanged via Western Union (WU) since you'll get a better rate than at the airport.  You can send your travel budget to yourself and pick up the exchanged amount at the local WU.
Convenient phone apps:  Grab for transportation.

Where am I going next?
My next adventure is to the Land of Smiles and that's no other than The Amazing Thailand.

  1. Wow we will be visiting Bohol soon on May 1 to 8. this itinerary would help us alot. Thanks

    1. I'm glad you're able to check my post. I hope you had a great time in Bohol. ^__^

    2. how much po ung van? san po na hotel ung 900?

    3. kaya no po bang halfday sa chocolate hills at luboc?

    4. Hey Tonix!

I think we paid 2,500 php for 5 people and ask for another discount during the payment transaction. It would be much better if you go as a group so you'll pay less individually.

I can't remember the establishment where we stayed but it's just around Tagbilaran Market. We asked the local people for this place, it's not actually a Hotel but a Pension House.

You can visit Loboc River first then proceed to Chocolate Hills. However , it would be such a waste if you just past by other tourist spot along the day. Well Its your trip, your decision. Just make sure to manage your time to achieve it in a half day pace.

      Have fun and be safe!
