Where to Stay in Tokyo: Spots for Lone Wolves, Lovebirds, Family Troops, and Wallet-Friendly Havens!

Our trips to Japan have been amazing. We enjoyed the vibrant energy of Tokyo, including the world's busiest pedestrian crossing and the popular Pokémon Centers. We've discovered some great places to stay that we highly recommend. For places to stay in Tokyo, we like the area around Ueno Station because it's safe and convenient. Tokyo Station is another excellent choice, known for its wide range of shops, making it a great place to find an accommodation. Let’s go!

Where To Stay in Tokyo

I suggest staying near Ueno Station in Tokyo because it's safe and convenient. The Skyliner train, which goes directly to the airport, is located there. This makes traveling with little kids much easier since you can avoid multiple train transfers. Even my brothers, who are more adventurous and laid-back, enjoy staying here. Additionally, Ueno Station is close to many attractions like Ueno Park and museums, and it offers a variety of restaurants and shops, making it a great place to explore and enjoy Tokyo. All these hotels are near the train station; that's a must for first-time visitors and for any tourist who wants to make life easy when traveling around Tokyo.

Tokyo.

The main picture in this post is Hotel Yaenomidori, and here is the unforgettable breakfast feast we had. It was all about bold, sophisticated Japanese flavours- it felt like a meal for royalty!

Quiet Side of Tokyo and Near the Pokémon Center TOKYO DX

We stayed here after visiting Mt. Fuji in Kawaguchiko to escape the crowds. The hotel served an amazing breakfast featuring traditional Japanese seafood, along with a menu guide. The rooms were small, but their minimalist design made the most of the space. It was conveniently located near Tokyo Station, making it easy to find places to eat, shop, and visit the Pokémon Center.

Perfect for budget travelers looking for a quick stay, we stayed for a night, and it wasn't too bad. It’s compact but covers all basic needs, including a bed, bathroom, and toilet facilities. Ueno Station vs Tokyo Station

When deciding between staying near Ueno or Tokyo Station, your choice should align with your plans. Ueno Station offers convenient access to the airport train and is less crowded compared to Tokyo Station. On the other hand, Tokyo Station is preferable if you have multiple tours, as most pick-up points are located there. Here are more details about the two stations:

Ueno Station

  • Located near Ueno Park, home to museums, a zoo, and seasonal cherry blossoms.
  • Generally has more affordable accommodation options than the Tokyo Station area.
  • Close to Ameyoko Market, a vibrant shopping street with various food and goods.

Tokyo Station
  • Central hub for Shinkansen (bullet train) routes, making it ideal for long-distance travel.
  • Surrounded by upscale shopping and dining options, including the famous Marunouchi district.
  • Architectural landmark with its historical red brick facade and modern underground city.

Enjoy your time in Japan! Remember to show respect for the locals by saying “arigato,” which means thank you, while giving a slight bow as a gesture of politeness. Always wear a smile, be considerate with your chopstick etiquette, and remember that honoring the culture and traditions of this remarkable country is essential.

Have fun and be safe ^__^
