A 2-week game plan to battle those post-vacation blues!

Let's take it day by day for the next 2 weeks. You can’t expect yourself to jump back just like that; let it be a wonderful journey, a smooth transition. Remember, even when you're back home, it's still about the journey, not the destination. But of course, the destination still matters.

Here's a suggested itinerary to help you gradually transition from travel blues to everyday life over the course of two weeks:

How do you overcome travel blues?

Days 1-3: Relax and Reflect

Bubble Bath

Start with a relaxing bubble bath to unwind and reflect on your travels. Nothing beats a relaxing bubble bath to soothe your body and invigorate your soul. The warm water helps release tension and promotes relaxation. Consider adding bath salts or essential oils like lavender or chamomile for an enhanced calming effe
ct - Dr Teal's foaming bath is my ultimate moral support!. Taking time for a leisurely soak can help you unwind and reflect on your travel experiences.

Massage Chair

Spend some time in your massage chair to continue that pampered feeling and soothe any post-travel tension. I got mine from Amazon, and it's the best investment I've ever made for myself!

Having a Massage Chair at home is like bringing the spa to your living room. It lets you keep feeling pampered even after your travels. This investment can reduce the need for frequent visits to the massage center, saving money that can go towards your travel fund. Enjoying regular sessions can relieve muscle tension and improve your overall well-being.

How do you overcome travel blues?
Yes, a lot of bubble bath, because it's not easy, ahahaa. Just don't forget to moisturize and drink lots of water.

Days 4-6: Engage Your Senses

Aromatherapy

Use essential oil diffusers or scented candles to create a calming atmosphere at home. The power of aroma should not be underestimated. Scents like peppermint and
Eucalyptus Essential Oil can evoke memories of spa moments and help calm your nerves - these are my favorites! Make sure to get the authentic oils and not the watered-down ones. To experience the maximum healing, you need all the love you can get. I used a Reed Diffuser and placed it in each room to create a soothing atmosphere. Scents like lavender, lemon, or sandalwood can also be very effective in promoting relaxation and emotional balance.

Tea Ritual

Enjoying a warm cup of tea can be incredibly soothing. Whether you prefer green, black, or herbal teas, this simple ritual can offer comfort and relaxation. I love Uncle Lee’s Green Tea, and I also enjoy having Emperor Milk Tea to mix things up in my pantry. Pair your tea with a good book, color, paint, or some calming music to create a peaceful moment for yourself.

Days 7-9: Clear and Connect

Declutter

“If it doesn't add to your life, it doesn't belong in your life.” — Unknown

Take time to declutter your space; it can have a powerful impact on your mental state. It allows you to clear your environment and your mind, making room for new energy and positive thoughts. Donate items you no longer need; when I was in Los Angeles, organisations like the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) offered free pickup services.

Volunteer

Engage in volunteer work to connect with your community and uplift your mood. Whether it's helping at a local shelter, participating in environmental clean-ups, or mentoring young students, volunteering can uplift your mood and provide a fresh perspective.

Make a Difference

Engage in meaningful activities like signing up for the Be The Match Registry or sponsoring a child through organizations like World Vision. Making a positive impact on someone else's life can provide fulfillment and contribute to a sense of global community.

Days 10-12: Explore and Exercise

Hidden Gem Hunt

Explore your city to discover hidden gems; never stop exploring. This activity encourages you to see familiar places with new eyes and can reignite your sense of adventure. Visit local museums, parks, or cafes you’ve never been to, and enjoy the thrill of exploration without leaving home.

Exercise

Physical activity is a great way to boost your mood and maintain a sense of routine. Whether it’s running, joining a sports team, or taking up a new hobby like painting or gardening, staying active can release endorphins and provide a mental break from daily stresses.

How do you overcome travel blues?
Consider Travel-Themed Notebooks: No need for a fancy one—blank-lined travel-themed notebooks are great for documenting your adventures.

Days 13-14: Reflect and Plan

Journaling

Write about your travel - this is my ultimate favorite! Writing about your travel memories, future adventures, and daydreams about your bucket list can be a therapeutic way to preserve your experiences. Journaling helps you reflect on your travels, count your blessings, and set new goals. It’s also a great way to express gratitude and remember what you’ve missed during your trips. Get Busy

Get a To-do list Notebook or create one to keep yourself engaged and productive. Completing tasks, whether big or small, can provide a sense of accomplishment and keep your mind occupied.

This itinerary aims to help you gradually adjust back to your routine. I hope the list helps to combat travel blues and maintain a positive outlook, while preserving the joy and excitement that travel brings to your life.
