Embassy Suites Weekend Getaway, California

Short and Sweet

I can never get enough of the beach.  It's my favorite playground of all time.  And what perfect timing to be missing it — my husband received a gift voucher for a one-night stay with Embassy Suites in Oxnard.  We were excited when we had the chance to get away from the city.  Oxnard is about 1 hour and 30 minutes away from our place.  I can already smell the ocean as we prepare for this short trip.  Let's go! or shall I say "Let me go!"

How to get there:
Address: 2101 Mandalay Beach Rd, Oxnard, CA 93035

We were greeted with warm smiles and an inviting environment.  Everyone was friendly at the resort.  Our room had an amazing view of the ocean and, just by being there, was very comforting.

Hello Sunshine!

We arrived at the hotel during a happy hour of free drinks and snacks.  What more can I ask for?  Everything was going perfectly on this very fine day.  the resort has a late check-in time of 4:00 PM but that's fine because happy hour starts from 5:30 pm till 7:30 pm.  We had mixed vodka cocktails with nachos on the sides and ended the good time with a beer by the jacuzzi.

This is my favorite part of the resort.  The deliciously warm water felt so good, especially with a beer on the side.  It was pure relaxation.

For dinner, we decided to order a fast-food burger since we didn't like the menu in their restaurant.  It's been a while since we had The Habit — my number one burger place here in LA — so we ordered online and picked up our food in the lobby.  There are other restaurants available just a few minutes' drives from the resort too.  We decided to stick to the comfort of our room, enjoying the night breeze from our very own patio.

I slept like a baby the whole night.  Sometimes all we need is a one-night stay away from the city to reset our minds.

The next day we had a buffet breakfast by the poolside.  Afterward, we walked along the beach while reading inspiring quotes engraved on benches along the way.

Before checking out at 11:00am, we swam in the pool and dipped one last time in the jacuzzi.  It was a short and relaxing stay.

Have fun and be safe ^__^

Itinerary Reminders:

1. Flight Details
Make sure to write down your booking reference number, be at the airport two hours before your flight, and allocate time for your travel to the airport.

2. Accommodation Details
Write down your hotel/motel/resort/BnB booking number. Contact your place to inform them around when you'll be arriving — it really does help.  Also, ask if your accommodation has any discounted activities.  You'd be surprised!

3a. Transportation
List possible times your bus/train/boat arrives and leaves so you don't miss an activity.  Always give yourself an extra 30-45 minutes in case you get lost, get stuck in traffic, or are looking for parking.  Better early than late.  Of utmost importance: check for the last trip and fares!  So you still have time and money to get back.

3b. Car Rentals
Take note of your pick-up address and time allotted.  Our last car rental told us to bring the car back by a certain time with a certain amount of gas.  Allot money for fuel and parking.

4. Budgeting
Set aside a minimum and maximum spending amount for meals, transportation, entrance fees, activities, souvenirs, and emergencies.  3 meals a day + snacks add up quickly, so keep track!  As well as tips for restaurants and activities.

5. Activities
Call to confirm your booking(s) a day or so beforehand.  Set alarms and/or calendar reminders for things you plan to do (i.e- bungee-jumping, river-rafting, or even city/food tours).

If you still have one more day to spare why not go Hiking Los Liones Trailhead to Parker Mesa Overlook, California.

Where am I going next?

My next adventure is searching for more hiking trails in California.
